SY Kestrel
Six-Row Hybrid Feed Barley
SY Kestrel is a new six row hybrid barley; the first of Syngenta's Hyvido Neo generation of
varieties. SY Kestrel brings new levels of BYDV protection being resistance to all three common
serotypes of BYDV as well as tolerance to WDV. It has a strong all-round disease resistant
package including 7.1 for Rhyncosporium and 6.4 for Net Blotch. It as excellent straw qualities
with strong brackling resistance and good lodging resistance. SY Kestrels yield is slightly off the
pace in the eastern region but is more in line with the highest yielding varieties in the west. For
those growers wishing to cut down on insecticide use or enter the no insecticide use option in
SFI SY Kestrel removes any risk.
